Where to Find Wisdom
Updated: Jul 25, 2020
Have you noticed that there’s been an overwhelming amount of people trying to tell you “how-to” do something in the past few months? I know for me personally, it seems like every corner I turn there’s someone there trying to explain to me how to do something.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Not just how to bake a pie or how to renovate a bathroom for under $150. There’s been a lot of “how-to’s” that are suggesting how you ought to live — “how to talk to a family member who disagrees with your political beliefs”, “5 ways to keep calm in a pandemic”, or “how to teach kids about race”.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But, as believers, we know that if we lack wisdom or understanding, we should be going to God in His word!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🕊 James 1:5 says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.”

We don’t have to go searching far and wide for these answers, they are always readily available to us through the sufficient word of God. By His divine power, the Lord has graciously given us all things that pertain to life & godliness (2 Peter 1:3).

Hear this friend, that doesn’t mean that these outside resources can’t be helpful! But it does mean that we need to be diligent in making sure that they line up with biblical truth, not just personal opinion or feelings. Ultimately, God’s word is all we need.

We must know and believe that the Bible is the answer for every question we have. The Bible is the perfect guide for every “how-to”. How freeing! God doesn’t leave us to figure things out on our own, He gives all that we need in His word. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Above all, we seek first His Kingdom of righteousness (Matthew 6:33), not the world’s.
