How I'll Use My Voice

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

If these words in 2 Timothy are true, that the word of God is profitable for teaching and reproofing (an expression of disapproval) and correcting and training; that the word of God makes every man and woman complete and equipped for every good work; then it is sufficient.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

As Christians, the Bible is our guide. The Gospel is the lens through which we see the world. We match our opinions to God has already said is truth.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

We don’t have to seek an answer outside of the word. God has already spoken about every single issue that you could imagine. Racism. Hatred. Sex trafficking. Murder. Abortion. Injustice. Pain. Suffering. Evil.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

God has spoken about racism. God has spoken about law enforcement officers who abuse their power in order to do evil. God has spoken about injustice. God has spoken about how we should be living our life and how to seek reconciliation. This is NOT an American problem. This is the problem of sin. It plagues the entire world and it began in the garden.

So I will use my voice to speak out. I will use my voice to say that what happened to George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and all other injustices are WRONG. I will use my voice to say that racism is very much still alive in the world we live in today. It’s EVIL. It’s SIN. It is the enemy doing what he’s always done — deceiving God’s people into thinking that evil and disobedience is the way.

But I absolutely will not use my voice in the way the culture and media and politicians and social activists are telling me to. I will not form my opinions and beliefs around what the fallen and broken world is shouting. I will use my voice to spread the message of the hope and glory of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Son of God came down from heaven, wrapped himself in flesh, suffered for the sake of the world and saved a wretch like me. The spilt blood on the cross is powerful to cover every sin and evil act committed against the Father. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. He is the hope for all, not just some, but all of humanity.

The Bible is sufficient. God has spoken. His word makes me complete and equipped for every good work.

Repent. Turn the other way. Love the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. Love your neighbor as yourself. Be holy for He is holy. Be obedient to what the Lord of all creation says.

This is how the dividing wall will fall.

This is how we will see reconciliation.

This is how Heaven meets Earth.
